Dario Argento of Dawn of the Dead [Zombie]

Dario-Argento-e-George-A.-Romero“I am particularly pleased that Zombies are replaying after so many years. Titanus, the distributor of the time saw it as a very strange film, too eventful: the music was too extreme, thought it would go wrong and I was a bit ‘scared of this dreadful prophecy. I did not know what to do and then I said, “Okay, we do the first in Turin is a city I love, because I made us Deep Red; if it goes wrong there, we raise the middle. ” It was a Friday afternoon and I went to the movies quite terrified; but I remember that coming from the hotel I saw a lot of people and thought, then it does not go bad! … and in fact when I arrived was very full; I walked in and thanked everyone for coming. The film came after a long series of misadventures in Italy, because censorship made me cut a lot of scenes and then it retreated. What they asked me to remove it was too; I thought, indeed, that the assembly would be difficult to understand, and then I made small cuts, small raffazzonamenti, and managed to get an emergency procedure (usually the censorship reviews the film even after six months). When the film finally came out got a ban for children under eighteen who, for me, it was pretty serious, because we had done thinking about a young audience … I have a wonderful memory of zombies that was so important for my career and for that of George “.

Nicolas Winding Refn on Dawn of the Dead [Zombie]

“I have always considered Dawn of the Dead, or Zombies, a clear piece of cinema, at the same time innovative and outrageous. It is the most extreme and fascinating fresco on American consumerism ever brought to the screen, and there is nothing else like it. I consider it a great honor to present the restoration in 4K of this masterpiece in the edition 2016 of the Festival of Venice, a place very dear to me always “.

Dawn of the Dead [Zombies] will be available next fall 4k in Blu Ray, Blu Ray and DVD, for the label Midnight Factory, in a case with extra content, which will also feature the other two versions of the film (the Extended and Theatrical), also in high definition.
